Helping Others and Finding A Cure!!!!!!

"LDN may well be the most important therapeutic breakthrough in over fifty years. It provides a new method of medical treatment by mobilizing the natural defenses of one's own immune system." — David Gluck, MD

"Until There's A Cure...
There's LDN"

My Research On LDN For MS

(Low Dose Naltrexone)

When I first found out in November 2004 that I had MS and Transverse Myelitis I started on Betaseron Injections  but it wasn’t making much of a difference in my MS and with the Cellulitis infection I ended up getting in my right upper thigh from the injection I started getting very nervous and scared doing them. My Update Page will tell you all about the infection and what I went through for 3 awful months.

So I started doing a lot of research for something different and started hearing some people in MS chatrooms talking about LDN and reading in MS message boards so I started researching it. From what I have researched on the LDN and talking to people taking LDN its a lot more promising then the injections or anything else at this point plus it’s a whole lot cheaper but right now you can only get it through Compounding Pharmacies. My LDN is in capsule form and you take it every night between 9 pm and 3 am.

Naltrexone has traditionally been used to treat certain types of addictions - in doses of 50mg and up.  Dr. Bernard Bihari has discovered that very small doses (usually under 5mg) can have a impressive impact on the immune system.  People with *autoimmune* diseases report dramatic improvements in their conditions- AND a lessening of repeat flare-ups (sometimes called exacerbations.)  Just imagine a treatment that seems to help, have almost no side effects and costs less than $30.00 a month.

For a 3 month supply plus shipping of the LDN it cost me $45 verses the $1400 for a one month supply of Betaseron. BIG DIFFERENCE!!

The Pharmacist I got my LDN from in Boca Raton, Florida highly recommends LDN for people with MS and said if he had MS that’s what he would take.

The following excerpted posting, written by the chief pharmacist of Skip's Pharmacy of Boca Raton, Florida, appeared on a different website:

As I have said before, if I had MS, the only drug that I would absolutely be taking is LDN..... In 4 years of dispensing LDN, with over 10,000 patient months, I have heard of only three cases of exacerbation... this is truly a no-brainer. I would find someone to prescribe it no matter the cost or effort.

Skip Lenz, Pharm. D.

If you decide to try LDN you cannot take any Opioid Pain Medication with the LDN so you will have to get off that first before taking the LDN. LDN can be taken along with any other medication or substance, so long as it is not narcotic-containing. Naltrexone is a pure opioid antagonist and it will block the action of narcotics. Some examples of narcotic-containing drugs are Ultram, morphine, Percocet, Duragesic patch and any codeine-containing medication.

LDN has virtually no side effects. Occasionally, during the first week's use of LDN, patients may complain of some difficulty sleeping. This rarely persists after the first week. Should it do so, dosage can be reduced from 4.5mg to 3mg nightly.

I had to go off my Vicodin before I can start my LDN and the pharmacist I got the LDN from said that you should wait a month till the medication is completely out of your system because if you take it before then you won’t get the full effect of the LDN. When I start taking my LDN (3mg) I will be adding another page to my Web Site on my progress so please keep checking back.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to specify that you do NOT want LDN in a slow-release form.

Reports have been received from patients that their pharmacies have been supplying a slow-release form of naltrexone. Pharmacies should be instructed NOT to provide LDN in an "SR" or slow-release or timed-release form. Unless the low dose of naltrexone is in an unaltered form, which permits it to reach a prompt "spike" in the blood stream, its therapeutic effects may be inhibited.

Here is what others are saying about LDN:

1.     I believe the most important Treatment that currently exists for Multiple Sclerosis is: LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone. My wife started LDN almost four years ago and has never had another exacerbation or further progression of her MS. Directly or indirectly I have helped hundreds of people start using LDN and 99 out of 100 people have had the same miraculous results. In 10 years I have never heard of any good results received from the use of FDA-approved MS drugs, so please do yourself a favor and start taking LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone.

2.     She decided to try the drug last April. "The first thing I noticed, lying in bed, was that the numbness in my back had improved," she said. Stiffness and fatigue also began to fade and — a particular milestone — she managed to complete her daughter's student loan forms, all 14 pages. "This morning I have got up, worked on my computer, cooked and tidied up," she said. "In a short while we are going to go out. Prior to taking low dose Naltrexone I could not do anything before late morning."

3.     One MS sufferer, a businessman from CoGalway, said he switched from Beta Interferon to LDN in early August and since then has experienced "a dramatic difference" in health. "It got rid of my fatigue and my joint pain, and also removed weakness in my lower limbs," he said. "I can now work a full day and enjoy more time with my children, and life in general."

4.     "It is pretty amazing what [LDN] does...I wake up in the morning with energy. Last year, I was taking time off work, my body shook and I couldn't stand without supporting myself. Now I'm running a little and teaching. It's unbelievable."
